In collaboration with Danse Danse, Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal invites you to TD Cultural Tuesday x Danse Danse - La Tresse.

LA TRESSE collective and their team will be in residency at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal from the 8th to the 26th of January, 2018, to begin their new research project titled L’Encre Noire, as part of Danse Danse’s Créateur en Mouvement project.

ABOUT
In this new creation titled L’Encre Noire, LA TRESSE will explore the physical shifts that occur when bodies are transported from terrestrial to aquatic environments. The artists are inspired by the dark and enchanting character of the sea and the Irish mythology connected to water.

LA TRESSE COLLECTIVE
After the three dancers’ serendipitous meeting while attending a Gaga Intensive in Tel Aviv, Erin O’Loughlin (Calgary) and Laura Toma (Ottawa, the first certified Gaga teacher in Canada) decide to relocate to Montreal and form the collective LA TRESSE together with Geneviève Boulet. In only three years, the collective becomes a great success. The artists create two works that are presented several times and for which they receive scholarships, as well as a multitude of creative residencies. Their first piece, Beauté Brute, is presented at Zone Homa (Montreal), Vue sur la Relève (Montreal), OFFTA (Montreal), Dance Matters (Toronto) and La Rotonde (Quebec). Created during a residency at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal, their second trio Volume II won the public's prize during its premiere at the Festival Quartiers Danses. LA TRESSE was part of the residency program of the Centre de Création O Vertigo (CCOV) and was selected by Springboard Dance Montreal as emerging choreographers for the 2017 edition. Their first work for a large group, A Walkabout, was presented as part of the Festival Quartiers Danses in September 2017.
