Mission

Arsenal Contemporary Art is a private art center and cultural initiative founded by the patrons Pierre and Anne-Marie Trahan. Its mandate is to support the creation, production and dissemination of contemporary Canadian art through a variety of projects, including exhibitions showcasing Canadian artists alongside international artists that are organized in-house or by guest curators.

One entity, two locations

Founded in Montreal in 2011, Arsenal Contemporary Art also operates a commercial gallery in Tribeca, New York (since 2017) and previously maintained a presence in Toronto (2013–2024).

Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal

Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal is located in the heart of Griffintown, on the north bank of the Lachine Canal, in a former 19th-century shipyard. A testament to the neighborhood’s industrial past, its vast galleries are designed to host a diverse range of programming, from contemporary art exhibitions to large-scale multidisciplinary performances, within a setting suited to ambitious projects and major partnerships.

Serving as a showcase for the Collection Majudia as well as invited artists, the exhibited artworks ranging from new acquisitions to iconic pieces, reflect the richness and diversity of contemporary art. Arsenal Contemporary Art fosters ongoing dialogue between Canadian and international artists, continually engaging with current artistic practices.
