For It Shall Rule (2023) - Etienne Morneau

65 minutes - Original French version, English subtitles

Etienne Morneau, For It Shall Rule traces the evolution of housing along the banks of the Lachine Canal in Montreal, from the subdivision of its banks in the mid-nineteenth century to the promotion of condominiums in the post-industrial city. Without recourse to archive footage, the film tells the story of two fictional characters, a photographer and a professor, who walk along the banks of the canal and discuss, ‘behind the camera’, various events that have marked its history.
