Véronique Duplain is a self-taught photographer who lives and works in Montreal. In the past years, she has explored different aspects of photography as a medium before moving on to the #Selfie Project, now in its eighth edition.
In this project, Duplain stages herself in various narrative universes and takes one self-portrait a day everyday throughout the month of February. Published daily via her social media platform, these photographs address current themes such as web voyeurism and the construction of public personalities.
The process behind Véronique’s photographs, Duplain reveals the complexity of her approach. She is in charge of all aspects of production, from the conception of the initial idea to the digital retouching of the image, and even the scenography.
The final result of her work, which consists in a series of 28 color prints, is presented in the centre of her creative laboratory and includes multiple decors and props, allowing the viewer to peek into Duplain’s elaborate creative process.
